A Sign Plan for Soberania National Park, Republic of Panama
This report explores principles of sign planning for park visitors in general and for Soberania National Park in particular, assessing sign needs and providing sign designs and recommendations for their placement. Planning objectives include: promotion of pride and respect for the park, understanding the importance of the Canal Watershed, provide awareness of other important environmental issues, improve agency image and recognition, reduce inappropriate behavior (litter, hunting, tree cutting), promote public use and tourism, de-market overused areas, understand why parks are important and how to behave in them, and enhance the recreational experience of visitors. Sign specifications are presented in a separate companion document.
