Internal review of Nouabale-Ndoki project after completion of project year two

SUMMARY: The Congo Forest Conservation Project (CFC) was aimed at improving the capability of the government of the Republic of Congo (Brazza) to manage and conserve its natural forest. The project objectives were: To create and develop the Nouabale-Ndoki National Park; To conduct biological and forestry surveys/assessments; To provide training in forest conservation and forestry management; To formulate environmental strategies, especially related to natural forest conservation and management. This report covers operations carried out after two years of the project life in 1993. The report is an outline of project activities and what was accomplished in this short period. Accomplishments included the gazetting of the protected area, biological and socioeconomic surveying, and initiation of buffer zone forest management activities and of park management and protection.
