Webinar Recording: A Conversation with Sal Amato, Wildlife Asia
During this May 25th, 2017 Webinar, Megan Hill interviews Sal Amato from Wildlife Asia on his experiences in building law enforcement capacity to combat wildlife trafficking. Additionally, the CWT Case Example Compilation was announced, which will collect lessons and experiences related to best practice for CWT capacity building.

Sal Amato is a recognized expert in combating wildlife exploitation and trafficking, with 28 years of experience in the field of wildlife law enforcement and protection. Sal has worked as a law enforcement officer with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, as a senior advisor to the INTERPOL Environmental Security Sub-directorate, and as the INTERPOL liaison to the International Consortium on Combating Wildlife Crime (ICCWC). Sal has extensive experience working across international borders to address threats to animals and wildlife, including international collaboration, intelligence sharing, as well as training and capacity building.

Sal currently serves as the Law Enforcement Specialist for USAID’s Wildlife Asia activity. Wildlife Asia addresses wildlife trafficking by working to reduce demand of wildlife products and to improve regional action to end wildlife crime in Southeast Asia and China. This webinar will contribute to the CWT Learning Group’s questions around capacity building for law enforcement, and announce a new global case study compilation effort to learn from our collective experience when working with law enforcement agencies.
