On June 29th and July 5th, 2022 the University of British Columbia’s Fisheries Economic Resource Unit (UBC/FERU) shared the final draft results of their characterization of DWF activities in selected geographies.  Webinar participants were invited to share their input to refine the final results through geographically-focused small group discussions.

Pre-readings of the reports were offered before each session or Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean and Asia and the Pacific Islands. During the session, each group provided feedback, captured on a virtual whiteboard (see the resources below).

UBC/FERU’s research was commissioned to help implement USAID's Distant Water Fleet Research Agenda. The research will support USAID, the U.S. Government, and our implementing partners in understanding the relative threat from DWFs to domestic fisheries in key geographies.
