NWP Annotation by Jon Anderson

This is a project level document which synthesizes lesson learned over the life of the project. It is based on an integrated approach which the authors deem is absolutely critical to success and follows a modified project cycle approach. It compares these phases to the guidelines for CBNRM which include the following principles: 1) a variety of different ways of earning a living is maintained, 2) the natural resource base is maintained and even improved, 3) local organizations work effectively to manage resources, 4) people receive real benefits - economic, social, cultural and spiritual, 5) there are effective polices and laws that are implemented, 6) outside assistance is provided to facilitate local projects, and 7) there is a good understanding of local leadership and it supports CBNRM.
