Signs: Recommendations and Designs Phase I: Highway and Road Signage in the Protected Areas of Nicaragua
This project evaluates the current roadside signage in seven Nicaraguan protected areas participating in the MARENA/USAID Comanagement project (COMAP) and provides recommendations for improvements which will help MARENA, NGOs and local communities achieve their management objectives. This project does not address signage needs for trails, interpretation or general visitor orientation and information needs inside the protected areas. Thus, this work is considered “Phase I” of the signage needs for these protected areas. Phase II of signage needs for these protected areas should consist of development of an individual “sign plan” for each of the seven comanaged protected areas.
