Exporting content From Google Scholar Using Zotero
This tutorial requires that you have Zotero reference management software installed on your computer. Zotero is free and open source. If you do not have Zotero, you can download it here: www.zotero.org
1. Navigate to Google Scholar at scholar.google.com.
2. Enter a term into the search box and click the magnifying glass or hit enter on your keyboard.
3. Google scholar will return results based on your search criteria. The results will be sorted based on relevance, but you may also sort by date by clicking on a year under the Any time menu in on the left side of the screen, or by clicking Sort by Date.
4. Once you have found the item(s) that you are looking for, click on the Zotero folder icon in the address bar of your web browser.
5. In the popup window that opens, select the item(s) that you would like to save to Zotero and click OK.
6. To find your item(s), click on Zotero on the bottom right border of your web browser. This will open Zotero.
7. Select the item(s) that you would like to export as RIS. You can include multiple items in one RIS file. To select multiple items, press control (command on a Mac) and click the items that you would like to export.
8. Right click on your item(s) and click Export Items from the menu.
9. The export window will open. Click on the Format drop down menu and select RIS.
10. In the Translator options, make sure Export Notes and Export Files are both checked. Click OK.
11. Name your item and Save to a location that you will remember.
