Measuring Impact II (MI2) provides support for tackling USAID’s conservation challenges by building on the success of Measuring Impact (2012-2018). Partners Environmental Incentives, Foundations of Success and ICF International continue to support USAID thought leaders, mission staff, and Washington bureaus to apply evidence-based adaptive management across USAID’s biodiversity portfolio. USAID regional and bilateral missions and regional bureaus may buy into this mechanism to strengthen development outcomes.

MI2 offers assistance for best practices in adaptive management and the use and generation of evidence and learning to enhance biodiversity conservation. MI2 also helps better integrate conservation with other development sectors such as health, food security, democracy and governance, and global climate change.

How-To Guides for USAID Biodiversity Programming

The three Biodiversity How-To Guides provide in-depth guidance on key tools and practices to support design teams as they design and manage biodiversity programs within USAID’s Program Cycle and in accordance with the Agency’s Biodiversity Policy.

PDFs of the How-To Guides, summaries, and supplemental guides are available, as well as interactive versions.

Evidence in Action

MI2's tools and approaches help to strengthen the conditions for adaptive management in USAID biodiversity programming. Evidence in Action walks practitioners through steps to apply evidence and an evidence-based approach to the design and implementation of strategic approaches for biodiversity conservation in the USAID context.

Learning Groups

MI2 supports USAID's biodiversity cross-mission learning groups to capture and share lessons for common conservation strategic approaches across global activities. The current learning groups focus on combating wildlife trafficking, conservation enterprises, marine conservation and sustainable fisheries, and wild meat.
