USAID Invites Partners to Share and Learn at Annual Local Capacity Strengthening Policy Forum

USAID will host the second annual Local Capacity Strengthening Policy Learning and Feedback Forum on October 1–10, 2024.

The virtual event brings together USAID staff, local actors, and global stakeholders to discuss the implementation progress of USAID’s Local Capacity Strengthening Policy, share learning around effective capacity strengthening practices, and guide future work.

Local ownership and leadership are essential for achieving sustainable results in development and humanitarian assistance programming. The Local Capacity Strengthening Policy guides USAID decisions about why and how to invest in the capacity of local actors to inform Agency programming that builds upon the existing strengths of local actors and systems, responds to dynamic local priorities, and aligns with USAID strategic aims.

The Forum is an opportunity for attendees to share candid feedback on USAID’s Local Capacity Strengthening Policy. It also offers space for USAID and partners to recognize progress, identify barriers, and encourage uptake of tools, resources, implementation guidance, and evidence related to investing in the capacity of local actors.  Participants can choose from nine different virtual sessions, including three different listening sessions, to share their stories and learn about resources, evidence-based guidance, and innovative practices. All public sessions will include live simultaneous translation into Kiswahili, Arabic, French, and Spanish and interpretation in American Sign Language and will be recorded and posted on the USAID website after the event.
