Climate Change
Healthy, intact ecosystems are more resilient to the impacts of climate change and are an important component of climate adaptation and mitigation efforts. Increasing temperatures, rising sea levels and extreme weather events like droughts and floods present serious threats to human development, economic growth and poverty reduction.
Ecosystem-based Adaptation
Ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) is a nature-based approach to help people adapt to the adverse impacts of extreme weather and climate change through improved conservation and management of forests, mangroves, coral reefs and other ecosystems. BRIDGE created a suite of evidence summaries and case studies that highlight the role of biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services in addressing climate vulnerability.
Sustainable Landscapes
Integrating biodiversity and sustainable landscapes objectives in development programming offers an opportunity to jointly address threats and drivers of biodiversity, forest loss and land degradation. BRIDGE documented current and recently completed USAID sustainable landscapes and biodiversity activities to capture learning and provide recommendations on best practices for integration.
