Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
Intact, biologically diverse ecosystems support health and fight disease by providing essential goods and services including nutrient-rich wild foods, natural medicines, and clean air and water. BRIDGE explored linkages between natural ecosystems and health outcomes through a research collaboration with the Gund Institute at the University of Vermont on forest cover and nutrition outcomes in children. BRIDGE also developed a factsheet that summarizes the evidence on biodiversity and health linkages and highlights opportunities for integrating health programming with biodiversity.
